Starting a Business

Starting a business is not an easy undertaking, you need to consider the type of business that you want to be involved in, is it a business in a sector that you will enjoy, do you have the skill set to operate the business, do you have sufficient start-up capital, is there a market for the business, how will owning and operating a business fit in with your personal and family life? Many, many questions to answer before your launch yourself into an entrepreneurial role.

At the North End Business Development Centre we don’t have the answers for you, those are questions that you need to answer for yourself, research the opportunities and prepare for the many hours of hard work to start-up and continue to operate a business.

What we can do here at the centre is take some time to discuss with you your ideas and plans, provide information and booklets on developing a business plan, sourcing funds and direct you to an appropriate agency that provides further educational sessions and classroom work to develop your business plan and gain the knowledge to help sustain your business.

When you’re ready to go, we would like to have you come back to the North End to start your business. We can assist in making connections with landlords of commercial space that you may desire, introduce you to other business owners, help to promote your business, connect you with local agencies that can provide a workforce and even assist with a small grant to enhance your new storefront location. Once established,  we work with the businesses to promote our North End business community to each other and the city at large, involve business in the community and opportunities that arise.

We welcome all enquiries and will assist you in any way that we can.
